    "Chan Terminology" Empty "Chan Terminology"

Kudos to Admin for creating this forum!

I'd like to bring up something pertaining to the nature of our future discourse that may be controversial.

I'd like to propose that we completely and utterly do away with "Chan Terminology": that is, to not be reduced to childish banter of name calling and using memes as a way of expressing ourselves.

I may be alone in this hope, but I just desire...civil and advanced discourse that does not contain horribly deduced and mimicry language.

If I'm alone in this wish, I'll shut up.

I'd say we can all agree on this, I can't see a reason not to.

What do you mean chan terminology? Like general crudeness and faggotry?

This is an awful idea. I wish to be able to express myself however I want.

Should a mod decide what one should be able to say or not?

Rules is exactly why I dont visit forums. Hopefully rules will not be a part of this forum.

I don't think any specific rules should be put in place, but that petty arguments and off-topic rambling should be avoided.

I don't think any of that will happen anyways, though, so moderation of it (and most other things) isn't necessary.

I've stated my intention (in the 'general' category) to keep this forum as demotic as possible. We are each our own moderators - the only influence to which are accountable is that of our personal integrity.

I think if people want to express themselves like 4channers, they should stay on 4chan.

I was hoping this place would be a refuge from everything that's wrong with 4chan /lit/, not an exact copy with aliases.

You can interpret that as "you're challenging my rights to expression", but I think it's more like upholding a code of etiquette--of respect and maturity.

Well so far I'd say we've been respectful and mature enough - let's just not worry about it and instead enjoy the forum.

So when it would be a rule, you think you would be more respected, or that posters would be more mature?

Well, we've certainly 'started as we mean to go on'. The tone's been polite, helpful and relaxed. I'd like to thank all of you for coming aboard at such an early stage and getting the ball rolling, so to speak!

It's just when I see a thread named "Dat Fitzegerald", I'm immediately turned off from coming here anymore.

There are more people posting than the OP of that thread.

Help us set an appropriate tone then, friend! This forum will born of (though not necessarily in opposition to) 4chan. It will take time for it to mature into all that we hope it to be.
